Gardening keeps me from going (completely) crazy in an insane world. Digging in the soil keeps me grounded in Real Life. Growing things (& sometimes killing them) connects me to the creative (& destructive) energy of the Universe. Gardening soothes my soul and calms my mind, keeps me fit and rewards me with a sense of efficacy. I Can create something beautiful and living.
It's hard to say what I'm looking for: a companion and a help-meet in my garden. Someone else to share the beauty and the rewards with. A companion to sit & enjoy the garden with -- after I've spent so much time creating the perfect place to sit and enjoy -- to feel the dappled sunlight, breathe in the fragrances, relax and know that all is not for naught.
I need a man around the house -- & garden. Sure, I need some help with a couple of large pots -- oops that one has grown in - yeah, I Really need help there. I need another eye, another hand, another opinion -- but someone who's comfortable with a dialogue about the opinion I just asked for.
But most of all what I really need is a companion. Someone who can just Be There with me in the garden wordlessly inhaling the beauty of creation.
