Beginner urban garden

Beginner urban garden Straw is your friend. But sometimes not if it happens to be winter, raining and crap like that. Fences are your BFF if you have chickens like I do and someday goats. I have raised beds full of stuff fairly safe from the chickens but will have to be fortified for goats in case they get out. Don't forget the poles that hook on and make sure it goes all the way down to the ground, maybe trench it if you have right at the edge free ranging chickens like mine. Anyway, the Dervaes family of Little Homestead in the City are my inspiration to grow it at home instead of paying $$ for cut up lettuce or corn. If you have to maximize space like I do look for the heirloom breeds that aren't so big. Still I managed to get smaller pumpkins but nobody told their vines to grow small!
